To the Knights in Lower Lytelthorpe:
Many of you have probably noticed that I have not been around much
recently, and you would certainly be correct in that assessment.
Something has happened to me that I never thought would happen:
something has completely replaced Asheron's Call forme, and that is
Lord of the Rings Online. I started playing the beta in late February
and believe I have found the "One" game above all others (pun certainly
intended). While I am elated to have found a game of this magnitude,
indeed a match made in heaven for me, it gave me great sadness to
unsubscribe both of my Asheron's Call accounts yesterday.
The sadness comes from the fact that I will be leaving truly the
greatest family that has ever graced a Turbine server.
I returned to Asheron's Call in January of 2005, after a hiatus of at
least two years. I was randomly running through the subway as a very
low level newbie character, when I was "solicited" by someone you may
all affectionately refer to as "Alex." Alex is the one who first asked
me, in his very childish 10-year old way, if I was interested in
joining an allegiance. Seeing how I had nobody, and all my old friends
had long since departed, I was certainly interested in finding a new
home. I have made few decisions as good as that one in my life.
Alas, that my departure from the world of Morningthaw has come before
it's time!
In parting, I must certainly praise and thank those who have been such
key figures in my time in the last two years:
Pete
Pam
MJ
Kal
Dale
Jeanne
Dave
Boiler
Tuna
Wayne (RIP)
Hankey
Flitte
The "other" Dave AKA MMMG
Pillhip
TJ
Ah, the times we have shared! All of the tesserae runs on Marae Lassel!
All of the body recoveries on Vissidal! The countless hours at Vile!
The suicide quests on Singularity Caul! All the tinkering parties and
the destruction of priceless weapons! The millions of Bobo runs! Our
many adventures in the Valley of Death!
Most importantly, the relationships that have been built on these
grounds in the city of Lytelthorpe.
I decided to write my farewell in the form of this book, may it always
be a testimony to the love I have for this family, these Knights in
Lower Lytelthorpe. I thought of perhaps posting on the message boards,
or perhaps sending an e-mail, but for me, this just "fit."
I will dearly miss you all. I have endeavored to carry on the legacy
established by this allegiance to the world of Middle Earth, as Ben,
Bill, Becky, and myself have founded "The Team" on Elendilmir, built
upon the same principles that the Knights were also founded on. Should
your travels ever take you to the lands of Middle Earth, please look up
Stanford, Aravaile, or Liz on the server of Elendilmir.
I will still take the opportunity to visit the KiLL message board, to
stay in contact with you all. My best wishes will go with you, wherever
fate may lead!
With deepest regards,
Artie
"The Dagger Guy"
